Last month’s recipe, Kathy G's "Paella in a Pumpkin" recipe really proved popular with both our newsletter recipients as well as our friends at THE BIRMINGHAM NEWS. On November 19, the News ran a wonderful story along with the delicious recipe and easy-to-follow instructions. We love when even more people have access to our most fun entertaining ideas and can’t thank the writer, Chanda Temple, enough for showcasing this fun recipe! CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE

Many people believe the number eleven signifies rebirth, a new beginning, and good luck. Which means that 11/11/11 just might have been the perfect day for couples to get married and start their new lives together. Kathy G & Company catered an exquisite wedding reception for the gorgeous Regina and Curtis Peacock at the Alabama Theater. With a hearty menu that included a CARVING STATION, Flash-Fried Shrimp Cakes, Chicken Kabob Skewers with Taziki Sauce, and Homemade Mac & Cheese, the event was so newsworthy that Birmingham’s CBS 42 covered it! Now that’s a memory to cherish!!! CLICK HERE TO SEE CBS VIDEO
We always love catering Grand Openings of any sort, but the Kathy G crew was especially excited to take part in all the events surrounding the opening of the Brookwood Medical Center’s brand new Women’s Hospital over the weekend of November 17 – 20. Fun cocktails and "mocktails" for moms-to-be, were served at the exciting “Finding Your Mommy Style” event hosted by Rosie Pope on Thursday night. And of course, plenty treats such as Truffle Popcorn, Kathy G’s Signature Cake Pops, and Mini S'mores were offered up at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Sunday afternoon. What a great weekend! We’re so proud to have been selected as the catering team for all the festivities!
Two of Kathy G’s favorite charities, the MARCH OF DIMES and MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION hosted big fundraisers at Park Lane in November on the 8th and 18th respectively. Longtime Kathy G event coordinator Mary Jones helped plan both events and she did a splendid job. The March of Dimes affair had 350 guests who enjoyed a SHRIMP AND GRITS STATION as well as heavy hors d’oeuvres such as Pecan-Crusted Chicken Bites, Oven-Roasted Pork Loin, and Mushrooms stuffed with Sausage and Pecans. While the Make a Wish Foundation’s benefit stayed strictly with sweets such as delicious homemade cupcakes. Park Lane is a great venue for fundraiser benefits. If you’ve got one coming up, please call Mary Jones at 205.871.5551 – She’ll make it perfect!
There’s no better place in Birmingham to host a bridal luncheon than the Gardens Café by Kathy G. With its location right in the heart of the Botanical Gardens along with a gorgeous patio, flawless service, and top-notch menu, Café event coordinator Tamara Archer has hosted more than 150 bridal luncheons in 2011. November was no different as the brides kept on coming in with their closest friends and family. On November 11, bride-to-be Melissa had sixteen guests at her affair with the girls enjoying Tomato and fresh Mozzarella Canapés, Homemade Ham and Cheddar Quiche, and a Mixed Greens Salad. While on November 18, Brooke and her ten guests dined on a delicious Salad Trio before dessert of Strawberry Tiramisu served in Cosmo glasses. If you have a bridal luncheon or wedding rehearsal dinner in your near future, please call Tamara at 205.871.1000 – She’ll make certain that it’s special.
On November 17, the Kathy G team headed down to our home away from home, Tuscaloosa, to cater a dinner for the UA Arts & Sciences Department at one of our very favorite venues in all of Alabama – Smith Hall. The nearly 150 guests dined on delicious offerings including Edible Asian Spoons topped with Salmon Tartare, a Mixed Greens Salad with Grilled Pears and Goat Cheese, Herb-Crusted Filet of Beef Tenderloin, and for dessert, a trio of Tiramisu, Lemon Curd Tart, and Vanilla Crème Brûlée. We always love catering events for the University and we look forward to returning again very soon! Roll Tide!
Kathy G & Company catered SO MANY splendid weddings throughout November. Here’s a quick look at just a few.
Anna and Jayson tied the knot on November 12 and they not only chose Kathy G to cater, but also to handle their floral/design. The Aldridge Gardens affair was truly spectacular as guests dined on a menu of heavy hors d’oeuvres including Mini BLTs, Honey Ham on Petite White cheddar Biscuits and fresh carved Roast Beef with Horseradish.
A Sunday wedding at the Sonnet House found Meredith and Josh along with their 150 guests enjoying a TUSCAN TABLE with a selection of Crostinis, Bruschetta, Grilled Vegetables, and assorted Italian Cheeses. Mini “Sliders” with Cheddar and Dijon, Mini BLTs, and a “Groom’s Display” of Homemade Cookies and Milk made the event special for all attendees.
Andres and Carrie also chose Kathy G for both their catering and design. Their Park Lane wedding had a wonderful “South of the Border” feel with a spicy fun menu to match. To see more on Andres and Carrie, please click here.
