After the string of devastating tornadoes ripped through Alabama, pop singer Rihanna added a very special benefit show to her “LOUD” tour with all proceeds generated from the event going towards storm relief.  On July 11, the superstar made good on her promise bringing her incredible act to The Magic City and Kathy G & company was there – Catering both the pre 7 post show celebrations.  The Honorable Mayor William A. Bell was on hand along with several of the city’s “movers and shakers” as everyone in attendance had a fabulous time and more than $250,00 was raised for those in need.  Special thanks to Alex Garmon of AG Lighting for doing such a splendid job with the lighting and ambiance.  To see photos please click here.

CORPORATE EVENTS – Kathy G is “the Mercedes of Caterers”
Anybody who knows Alabama weddings, knows that Kathy G & Company is the gold-standard for brides across the state.  But we also excel with corporate events – A fact that was driven home on July 20 when Kathy G Event Planner Natalie Pilato Andrews coordinated a “Community Celebration” for Mercedes Benz at their Vance, Alabama factory.  More than 200 guests attended the event with a menu offering delicious favorites such as Beef Tenderloin, a Shrimp & Grits station, Pulled Pork Sliders, Mini Crabcakes, and Melon-Wrapped Prosciutto.  Over the years, we’ve always strived to be “the Mercedes of Alabama caterers” and being asked to handle their celebratory event only tells us that we’re doing something right!

ON THE ROAD – Headin’ Down to ‘Bama
On Saturday, July 16, the Kathy G team rode on down to Tuscaloosa for the University of Alabama Alumni Association’s Retirement Fundraiser in honor of Pat Whetstone.  Held in the South Zone inside Bryant Denny Stadium, nearly 350 guests were on hand for the cause.  This event, originally scheduled for April, had to be rescheduled after the horrible tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa, but nearly three months later, it went off without a hitch.  A cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres kicked off the event and then a plated seated dinner with entrée of Butter Poached Chicken Roulade Stuffed with Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Spinach & Italian Cheeses over Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes with Haricot Vert was enjoyed by all.

DESIGN – Creative, Innovative and Elegant
Christina and Josh were married at the stunning North River Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa hosted a true “Southern” on July 9th.  Though the venue is exceptional in its own right, it was made that much more incredible by the gorgeous florals created by Andy Hopper and the KG Designs team.  Just as Christina wished, the overall design was elegant, clean and “classic”.  We were extremely pleased to be a part of Christina and Josh’s big day and are so very appreciative of Meghan Cease (M Elizabeth Events) for brining this wonderful young couple to us.  To see photos from the event, please click here.

DESIGN II – A Work of Art at the Museum
When the gorgeous bride Pam Yau contracted KG Designs to handle the décor for her wedding reception at Birmingham Museum of Art, Andy Hopper rounded up the troops to make sure her vision was perfected.  Based on the reactions of guests at the July 9th event, he once again hit it outta the park.  Florals were vibrant shades of coral, deep pinks, fuchsia and greens while the custom-made linens were a gorgeous peacock blue. The sleek and contemporary look was capped off with silver Chiavari chairs – Creating a true work of art at the Art Museum.

WEDDINGS – Swan Lake Stables
We always love catering events at Swan Lake Stables in Cahaba Heights, so when wedding planner Neillie Butler of Mariee Ami asked the Kathy G team to be a part of Julie and Matthew’s July 23rd wedding, the entire team was thrilled.  More than 275 guests descended upon the Stables to celebrate with the newly minted couple.  Attendees enjoyed a fun “Southern” menu that included a Shrimp & Grits Station, Mini BLTs, and Sweet Potato Biscuits with Honey Ham & Peach Chutney.  It was a wonderful night for all and we couldn’t be happier for the lovely couple of Julie and Matthew.

PARK LANE – We Love the 80’s
High school reunions are ALWAYS a blast.  Old friends gather, reminisce about the good times, and laugh the night away as they share their funniest memories from back in the day.  On July 16, Vestavia High School’s Class of 1981 held their 30th reunion at Park Lane and more than 170 people enjoyed a menu full of Kathy G classics as the former classmates reunited with old flames and long lost friends.  Kathy G & Company LOVES hosting high school reunions, so if your class has a big celebration coming up, please call (205) 942-4210 and ask to speak with an event coordinator.

GARDENS CAFÉ – Brides, Brides, and more Brides
Over the last month or so, The Gardens Café has been home to more than a dozen Bridal Luncheons, Bridal Showers, and Rehearsal Dinners.  July 22 was a particularly busy afternoon with the Café hosting both Katherine Andrews and Julie Moore’s bridal lunches.  Each of the gorgeous young ladies invited their very closest family and friends to celebrate at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on the eve of their wedding days – with the Moore event held on the Café’s balcony and the Andrews soiree in the main dining room.  Much thanks to Kathy G Event Coordinator Tamara Archer for overseeing both flawless luncheons.  And if you’re looking for a venue to hold your bridal luncheon shower, or rehearsal dinner, please call Tamara at (205) 871-1000 as she’ll be happy to help you plan your event.

MEDIA – Kathy G at the News Stand
Kathy G & Company was a part of two major photo shoots this past month.  Though we can’t share too many details, we can say that our work will again be included in impressive publications and we’ll be sure to let everyone know when they hit the news stand.  That said, we are continually in awe of the talents of Arden Ward or Arden Photography and Terry Bruno of Fotowerks.  These two women do incredible work with their cameras and we’re so happy they were available to shoot our displays.
