Summer’s here and the time is right for food, fun and a fabulous Fourth of July!

CORPORATE EVENTS, PART II
On Thursday, June 16 the team packed our bags and flew on up to Brownwell Travel as we helped them entertain more than 120 guests at their open house “Rendezvous” reception.  While KG Designs handled the florals, the kitchen team cooked up a menu worthy of Birmingham’s “Luxury Travel Advisors.”  The experts at Brownell Travel wanted to be sure the affair exuded the high-end services they’ve provided for more than 100 years and executive chef Jason Mezrano did not disappoint.  From the moment guests entered, waiters serving Lemoncello and Prosecco on silver trays greeted them.  Caesar Salad offered in a Cosmo glass was another huge hit, while a chef-attended station with mini-plates of Four Cheese Tortellini with Prosciutto de Parma & White Truffle Alfredo Sauce, Sautéed Shrimp with White Wine over Roasted Red Pepper Grit Cake, and Grilled Beef Tender over Caramelized Onion Mashed Potatoes truly impressed everyone in attendance.

When workplace furniture company Dekalb Office called on us to provide both the catering and design for their June 23rd open house reception, we knew we had to impress with our creativity as this is a firm that’s known for one thing: innovative solutions.  Event coordinator Mary Jones and Kathy G herself

This month, the incredible work of the Kathy G kitchen staff has been highlighted in not one, but two magazines.  Both B-Metro and Birmingham Magazine shared recipes and wedding menu ideas as created by executive chef, Jason Mezrano and Kathy G herself.  Pick up copies of both mazazines anywhere periodicals are sold... AROUND TOWN
Thursday, June 23rd was an incredible night at Kathy G & Company.  Not only did the team cater TWELVE, count ‘em twelve, events, we also joined the best-of-the-best wedding professionals in Birmingham for the 2nd Annual “Bubbles & Baubles” Wedding Show at Henhouse Antiques in English Village.  From the sweet team at Olexa’s Cakes and photographer Rob Ingram to wedding planner Neillie Butler of the firm Mariée Ami and bridal gown designer Heidi Elnora, it was a who’s who of Alabama wedding experts.  Special thanks to our good friend Jamie Crim Hill for organizing such a splendid affair.

AROUND TOWN, PART II
Aldridge Gardens in Hoover, Alabama, is quickly becoming a favorite destination of Kathy G brides and we’re lovin’ it.  With romantic lakeside ceremonies and a gorgeous on-site pavilion to handle receptions of up to 300 or so, there are few if any better locales for an outdoor wedding in Birmingham proper.  Lora Colburn and Roland Jones decided to say “I do” beside the Gardens’ inviting lake on June 11th and we were proud to be a part of their special day.  KG Designs provided stunning florals for the afternoon occasion while the kitchen cooked up Pecan Crusted Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard, Sweet Potato Biscuits with Honey Pit Ham & Peach Chutney, Mini BLT's with Roma Tomato, Arugula, & Apple Smoked Bacon along with a fantastic SHRIMP & GRITS station.

WEDDINGS
Wedding planner Neillie Butler brought us a wonderful couple Katie and Phillip.  They were married on June 11th with a spectacular reception that followed at one of our absolute favorite venues, Rosewood Hall.  The Kathy G kitchen handled the catering – Serving up plenty of Southern favorites including Mac & Cheese bites, Mini BLTs, and a Mashed Potato Station with two kinds of potatoes and eight delicious toppings.  KG Designs’ Andy Hopper and his team handled the design – Utilizing predominantly white florals along with white LED lights and lighting sheers to create a most romantic environment.  To read more, please click here.

WEDDINGS, PART II
Memorial Day weekend was affectionately known as “Wedding Weekend” at our office as we handled several weddings on both Saturday and Sunday!  The sensational Sonnet House in Leeds hosted Leah and Tyler as they exchanged vows over the long holiday weekend.  A Carving Station with Garlic Studded Oven Roasted Top Round of Beef was featured on the Kathy G menu.  Though, the true highlight of the affair – besides the gorgeous bride – was the wide array of desserts.  A chef attended Bananas Foster Station provided a true “WOW Factor” while the 6-foot long tiered-glass table with a Grand Display of Assorted Mini Treats was popular with all 230 guests – young and old.  To see pictures and read more, please click here.

ON THE ROAD
The team packed up the trucks and headed 50 miles South to Clanton, Alabama for the tremendous 600-guest wedding of Elizabeth and Ryan on Saturday, June 11th.  With KG Designs handling the flowers and Kathy G executive chef, Jason Mezrano, overseeing the exceptional menu, it was an affair to remember.  Flash Fried Shrimp Cakes topped with Creole Aioli, a Seafood Bar with a Fresh Gulf Shrimp and Citrus Marinated Crab Claws, a Carving Station with Herb-Crusted Beef Tenderloin, a Southern Style Grits Bar, Chicken Kabob Skewers with Red Bell Peppers & Purple Onions, and a gorgeous display of Fresh Fruit were all part of what became one of the most impressive meals we’ve prepared in 2011.  Special thanks to Kathy G Event Coordinator, Natalie Pilato Andrews for running the show and KG Designs’ Andy Hopper for providing gorgeous displays of flowers at every turn.
