The birds are singing their warm weather songs, new flowers of yellow, red and purple are blooming every day, and love is in the air! The best part about spring is it’s truly a great time to make a fresh start.  You can give that vegetable garden of yours another try, take on a home renovation project, or just start up a fun new exercise regimen such as bicycle riding or hiking.

At Kathy G. & Company, we love to refresh our menus each spring - Adding a bunch of exciting new dishes that are just perfect for warmer weather. One in particular is a recipe that’s so very easy to prepare and, best of all, it will have all your friends and family raving.  That Kathy G. dish is eggplant marinara.

Springtime is definitely the right time to head on over to the beautiful Birmingham Botanical Gardens as the 67-acre “living museum” has literally come alive with dazzling color.

After a relaxing stroll through the property, the Garden’s Café is the perfect spot for lunch with the girls, a casual business meeting, or fun family get-together.

Kathy G’s executive chef, Jason Mezrano and Café manager Tamara Archer have updated the menu for spring.  Highlights include a delicious Fried Green Tomato Salad with Lump Crabmeat Remoulade over Baby Arugula with Goat Cheese Crouton & Warm Bacon Vinaigrette AND a sandwich that we’re sure will be an instant favorite: Roasted Pork Loin with Tomato Chutney, Red Onion Jam, & Provolone on Focaccia Bread.

So don’t forget to make the Gardens Café a lunch destination for April.  You can even order a special picnic for two so you can enjoy your meal inside the Gardens - The perfect way to pop the question or to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Also, if you’re a bride or know of a bride who’s looking for a venue for a 2011 wedding, we still have a few choice dates available.  But don’t wait any longer, as availability won’t last long.  Please call Tamara Archer at (205) 871-1000 to schedule a site visit and consultation soon!

On March 10th, Kathy G made yet another appearance on ABC 33/40’s Good Morning Alabama – This time with executive chef, Jason Mezrano and lead designer, Andy Hopper.  As part of the popular morning show’s special wedding episode, the KG team met up with ABC’s Tracy Haynes in Montevallo at the gorgeous American Village – One of our all-time favorite wedding venues!  Kathy, Jason and Andy all shared their expertise with viewers as they discussed a gorgeous “Tuscan Table” set-up and explained one of KG & Company’s most popular wedding themes of the last 9 months – “Farm to Table.”  We expect to have the video up on facebook VERY SOON, so don’t forget to visit our page and become a fan by clicking “LIKE” so that you’ll know the instant it’s uploaded.  http://www.facebook.com/KathyGandCompany

On April 1st, the Alys Stephens Center is holding their biggest fundraiser of the year with disco queens the Pointer Sisters as special-guest headliners.  Kathy G. & Company is “So Excited” to be dancin’ on down to the event and catering the Gala Reception for 250+ in the Daniel Lobby – All with a super-groovy disco theme.  We’ll have assorted cake pops with a colorful “funkadelic” twist, white chocolate mousse with Pop Rock garnish, and other “far out” sweets. Can you dig it?

We are so VERY PROUD of our lead designer, Andy Hopper, and all he’s accomplished this month.  Besides his continually creating some of the most gorgeous wedding florals you’ve ever seen, this month Andy took some time away from Kathy G Designs so he could head on up to the largest flower show in the world - The Philadelphia International Flower Show.  Participating with a group of designers, Andy and his team outdid everyone in attendance - Winning BEST IN SHOW for their gorgeous displays.  Huge congrats, Andy!  We’ve always known that you're the best and now the whole world knows it too!!!

Friday, March 25th the Kathy G crew is loading up and cruising down to Tuscaloosa for one of our biggest annual events – The President’s Cabinet Spring Dinner at The University of Alabama.  Although we’ve worked with Dr. Robert E. Witt and his wonderful team several times before, it’s ALWAYS an honor to be asked back again.  This time around, more than 250 guests will convene at the newly renovated Foster Auditorium for a delicious menu consisting of, Mini Caprese Canapés with Basil Pesto & Fresh Mozzarella, Marinated Poached Shrimp & Hass Avocado Salad with Pico de Gallo, Cilantro & Mango, Pan Seared Beef Tournedos on Circle of Potato Gratins topped with fresh Lump Crabmeat & Shrimp, and a “Trio of Cake Pops” decorated to resemble basketballs, volleyballs, and softballs.

From March 31 through April 2, The Women’s Guild of the Huntsville Museum of Art will once again present “Art in Bloom”  - Three fantastic days filled with floral fun!  “Art in Bloom” attendees will be delighted to see museum galleries transformed by gorgeous floral arrangements and they’ll be welcome to attend the many workshops taught by the floral experts on hand.  One of those experts is none other than our very own Kathy G who’ll be discussing “The Art of Celebration”.  If anyone’s an expert on celebrations, it’s Kathy G and she’ll be sharing her wisdom on the “Three F’s” – Food, Fun, and Fabulous!!!
