G. & COMPANY GOES PINK IN SUPPORT OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH To benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, Belk at the Summit will be holding their 6th Annual Private Shopping Event on Sunday, October 16 and Kathy G & Company is proud to be a part of such a special event!

AROUND TOWN - REGISTRY & RECIPES
Thursday, September 8th Kathy G headed over to Engaged Wedding Library in Homewood to take part in “Registry & Recipes” – a workshop for recent brides and brides-to-be.  Kathy shared lots of secrets on at-home entertaining with an emphasis on food styling and presentation.  She also brought along lots of Kathy G & Company samples as well as recipe cards for Cake Pops and Tomato Pie.  Thanks so much to all the wonderful ladies at Engaged – A truly a wonderful resource for brides across Alabama!  Did you know that, since their shop opened in 2008, they’ve assisted more than 500 brides in planning their weddings? THIS WEEK - Kathy G to Speak at Southern Women’s Show!
Four days of shopping, fashion shows, celebrity appearances, food sampling, pampering, and more.  The Southern Women's Show returns for its 27th year and you're invited to join in all the FUN!  This amazing event is jam-packed with incredible shopping opportunities, make-up tips, delicious gourmet treats, and exciting guest speakers.  BEST OF ALL, this year’s edition has Kathy G and KG Designs’ Andy Hopper taking the stage on October 8th & 9th to share their popular seminar, “The Art of Entertaining.”  For more info, please click here.

GARDENS café - “Antiques in the Gardens” is THIS WEEK!!!
You’ve been waiting patiently all year and now it’s finally back!!!  “Antiques in the Gardens” - one of the most popular annual events at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens – returns this weekend, Friday, October 7th through Sunday October 9th.  Once again, The Gardens Café by Kathy G will be selling “box lunches” so visitors may picnic in the Gardens and stroll through the marketplace without missing a thing!!!  For more info, click here.

A FEAST WITH THE BEASTS - ZOO GALA 2011
Saturday, September 17, Kathy G & Company rounded up the troops in handling both the catering and design for the 2011 Zoo Gala at the Birmingham Zoo.  More than 500 guests attended the Black Tie affair – starting with cocktails and light d'oeuvres at 6:30 in the Children’s Zoo.  At 7:30, guests hopped on the Zoo’s train for a quick ride up to the “Trails of Africa” – right beside the elephants - for a sit down dinner that consisted of Bibb Lettuce Salad with Grilled Peaches, Spiced Pecans, French Feta, and Citrus Vinaigrette; Grilled Beef Tenderloin over Saffron Risotto and Asparagus with Meyer Lemon-Chive Buerre Blanc Sauce; and a dessert offering of various homemade Tiramisu varieties.  After dinner, guests danced the night away to the super 70’s cover band, Lava Lamp – back by popular demand!!!  It was a most splendid affair and we’re so appreciative of the opportunity to continue to be a part of the Zoo Gala each year.  To see pics from the event, please click here.

WEDDINGS – TOTALLY ORIGINAL IN EVERY SENSE!
The Zoo Gala wasn’t the only trip Kathy G & Company took to the Zoo this month.  On September 25th, Lizzie and Mike had one of the most original weddings we’ve ever been a part of at the famed Birmingham Zoo Lodge.  From Lizzie’s gorgeous tie-dyed bridal gown, stunning henna tattoos, and the games of cricket guests played on the Lodge’s front lawn to the masquerade masks and numerous zoo animal guests, this wedding was unique and distinctive from the word go. Congratulations to Lizzie and Mike!

WEDDINGS – KATHY G LOVES OUR TROOPS!
On Friday, September 9th, the Gardens Café hosted the wedding of a most-impressive young couple, US Army Staff Sergeant Steven Bennett and his gorgeous bride, Sheree.  We were so proud to not only host their wedding, but also handle all their floral and design.  A real fun element was a Bride’s Table that doubled as an Ice Cream Sundae Bar!  Within a few weeks of their Botanical Garden nuptials, the handsome young Staff Sergeant and the fabulous Sheree will be moving from Alabama to Alaska so that Steven may continue serving our country at his new base.  Kathy G & Company loves our troops, and nothing makes up prouder than handling wedding for men and women in uniform. THEMED EVENTS - LABOR DAY ISLAND PARTY
At Kathy G & Company, there’s no denying weddings are our specialty. But we also love handling corporate events, holiday parties and special THEMED PARTIES.  In the past, we’ve catered and designed super-fun Elvis-Themed Affairs, 50’s Sock Hops, Casino Nights, 1960’s Psychedelic Celebrations, Authentic Hawaiian Luaus, 1970’s Disco Blowouts,  and Mardi Gras Festivities!  Caribbean-Themed Labor Day Party that had an authentic menu filled with delicious island specialties.  Pan Seared Jerk Seasoned Beef Tender over Sweet Potato Yam with Pineapple Salsa & Mini Orange Muffins, Pulled Pork topped with Crème Fraiche & Pico de Gallo in Phyllo Tart Shell, and Jerk Chicken Kabobs were just a few of the tasty offerings.  For more info, click here.

ON THE ROAD - ALABAMA BOARD OF TRUSTEES
If you know anything about Kathy G & Company, you know that we take great pride in catering events for University of Alabama, its wonderful President Dr. Robert E. Witt, the Alabama Board of Trustees, and all the amazing people who work so hard to make Alabama a world-renowned place of higher learning.  On Friday, September 23, we again handled the Board of Trustees dinner and it was a smashing success!  The Mini BLT Salad, Lobster Cappuccino with decorative sour cream script “A”, and Roasted Duck Mini Tacos with Mango Pico de Gallo were all huge hits with attendees! Then on Saturday, the Crimson Tide CRUSHED Arkansas 38-14- What a great weekend in Tuscaloosa!!!!

Kathy G on TV – DAYTIME ALABAMA

KG DESIGNS – LIZZIE AND CHASE WEDDING VIDEO
Earlier this summer, Andy Hopper and the team at KG Designs created one of the most beautiful weddings you’ve ever seen for Lizzie and Chase.  The ceremony took place at the First United Methodist in Hartselle, Alabama while the reception followed Burning Tree Country Club in Decatur, Alabama – with gorgeous florals and design elements at both locales.  Our friends at AVO Weddings were the videographers for Lizzie and Chase’s big day and they created this wedding highlight video so that you can see the breathtaking blue and gold event.   

New Website for KG Designs
Our in-house floral and design firm, KG Designs, and our head designer Andy Hopper have quickly made their name as Alabama’s best wedding florist.  Over here at Kathy G & Company headquarters we couldn’t be prouder of the reputation we’ve built and now we’re about to debut a KG Designs website.   This will allow us to both showcase all of our gorgeous design work and make it even easier for brides all throughout the South to both find and work with our team!  Look for www.KGDesignsByKathyG.com in the next few weeks!
