CAKE POPS RECIPE
- Take baked, cooled cake (homemade or store bought) and crumble into small pieces
- Use basic butter cream to bind (NOTE: Moist cakes take less, dry cakes take more)
- Use your hands to mix the butter cream evenly throughout the crumbled cake mix until the cake mix is well moistened. (NOTE: Your cake mix should be moist enough to shape into a large mound and keep its shape.)
- Roll your cake mix into 1-inch balls using the palms of your hands. (NOTE: You should be able to make about 40 cake balls from a single batch of cake mix)
- Stick each pop with a lollipop stick – Making sure that each one is STRAIGHT UP.
- Freeze pops at least 2 hours
- Melt chocolate (white, dark, or milk) and stir thoroughly with a spoon until COMPLETELY smooth
- Take a pop and dip into the melted chocolate about 1-inch.
- Once you’ve evenly coated the pop, gently tap the stick on the side of the bowl so as to keep excess chocolate from dripping
- Next, decorate the pops however you wish…. If using shavings (chocolate, coconut, sprinkles, etc..) place on pops while melted chocolate is still wet. If doing half-dips or stripes, WAIT for first coat to set and THEN finish with second coat.
- Finally, place your cake pops in Styrofoam (stick down) to harden.
